Margiela
Margiela runs a boutique cosplay store. Although it is a small operation, it provides thoughtful service with attention to detail and custom products that earned it a good reputation and loyal customer base. As a Night Chains member, she would close the shop if she's needed for a mission. Margiela's true passion lies in cosplay, particularly dressing up as a little witch from an anime.
With a buoyant and extroverted personality, Margiela, who manages a specialist costume store all on her own, is pretty skilled at customer relations and has exceedingly high patience. Not only is her sewing skill and craftsmanship spectacular, but she's also incredibly efficient, constantly striving to deliver costumes that please her customers right on time. According to her, in the past, she could only make costumes by hand because of certain reasons, but now that she has sewing machines, her work has become much easier.
To Margiela, cosplay has long been a part of her life. Just a brief interaction with her and you'll discover that this young lady's demeanor is almost as cheeky and adorable as a little witch in animes. Regardless if it's in her daily life or if she's on a mission for Night Chains, Margiela always dresses however she likes, causing her to often be misunderstood as a delinquent since she had dropped out of school halfway through, not to mention her atypical dressing style.
However, she is far from being young and reckless. Once you get to know her, her intelligence will become apparent, and her numerous outstanding skills also suggest that she has once received an elite education.
Based on Night Chains' records, Margiela's ascension abilities, which are indisputably not to be underestimated, awakened after she joined Night Chains. Anyone who knows about her abilities is always careful not to piss her off for no reason.
As though in response to Margiela, who has always presented herself like a little witch, the act of referring to her as a "witch" somehow began spreading among the people of Night Chains. As you can imagine, this not only doesn't infuriate her, but it will even lift her spirits if you call her that to her face.
Margiela, despite her formidable abilities, isn't passionate about combat or adventures. Instead, she prefers spending her time managing her little store and making costumes. Her dressing style has always been bold, and she's never one to shy away from attempting innovative designs. It makes her day whenever someone discovers the 'ingenuity' in her clothes. Things like whether or not the clothes she designs for herself are over-'revealing' are never in her consideration, nor does she care too much about people's opinions of her tastes. But if anyone tries forcing their conservative views on her, they will undoubtedly get on her bad side.
Margiela was born into a conservative family, with parents who demanded she put her studies first and who forbade her from having any 'unhealthy' hobbies. In such an environment, her only comfort was the one hour she got to spend watching animated shows on the TV every week.
The vivacious, flashily dressed witch in the show looked so free and unrestrained, and Margiela gradually grew a fondness for such a lifestyle, but she was aware that her parents would never approve of such a request. As such, she could only achieve that by herself with discretion.
While no one was home, she would secretly put on witch costumes and stand before the underused mirror to fulfill her tiny wish. At that moment, she'd feel like she had briefly escaped her taxing life and could allow her natural self to be set free. Such a gratifying experience was addictive, and she eventually found it impossible to do without.
Maybe because Margiela got somewhat carried away, she unwittingly loosened up and made a mistake one day. A corner of the eccentric costumes she deeply treasured was inadvertently revealed through the slit of the wardrobe, which led to a discovery by her mother. It went without saying that an intense family fight erupted, but Margiela couldn't understand why her parents had to react so hysterically when she simply wanted a bit of her own joy that didn't affect anyone else. Misery washed over her as she watched them freak out over the witch costumes.
Ultimately, the despondency and loneliness that came from her bottling up her feelings for years and her family's inability to understand her made her decide she was done living in that house, and she stormed out of there, never to return again.
Afterward, Margiela spent a very long time living without a roof over her head until she joined Night Chains. Her ascension abilities then awakened, and she slowly established her specialty costume store, finally attaining stability and the dream life she once longed for, which is perhaps also a happy ending.
The Legendary Tales of Mundus, Volume VI: The Exiled Witch
Long, long ago, a formidable witch once emerged in the Mundus Empire. Nobody knew what her name was; all they knew was that she had overwhelming powers. Predictably, people either envied or feared her.
"She's bound to cause a catastrophe someday!"
Even though this terrible supposition had never been realized, the witch's kinsfolk stubbornly believed that so long as she had such unparalleled powers, a catastrophe would sooner or later befall them all. As a result, they tried suppressing her powers.
Someone begged, "This is all for our family's future. You mustn't be so selfish!"
Someone cried, "Please listen to us. This is also for your own good!"
Someone bellowed, "If you don't agree, don't blame us for what comes next!"
Someone cajoled, "Since you're so powerful, I can stand on your side as long as you do me a favor!"
Unfortunately, all their attempts were futile before the witch's profound powers. That was until one day, multiple strange, unsolved murders occurred within the family. Rather than mourn their deceased compatriots, the people were beyond thrilled, for they could finally eliminate that fearsome existence!
The witch was forcibly taken into the courtroom. In spite of the lack of evidence, her matchless, formidable powers were the best proof of her guilt, and so she was convicted. The years of restraint and betrayal by the relatives she trusted resulted in her being exiled from her homeland for eternity. Before leaving, she took one last glance at her home and people, then left behind a curse: "The family will go to rack and ruin after my departure. Someday, I will eventually return."
Following that, the witch's family indeed withered and crumbled, but the witch never showed up again. At times, people would lament when faced with troubles, wondering where exactly that vile and piteous witch had gone to.
I'm Margiela. I'm the manager of a cosplay costume shop. Nice to meet you.
Oh — time to change shifts already? Very well. Can I get a big compliment when I return?
Hello, hello, my dear Conductor—! Eh ——?! I just wanted to hug you. Why run away?
Eh? My clothes aren't torn. They were designed like this to fit my character... And this is very fashionable. I guess it's something you don't understand!
Hoho, my dear Conductor is so adorable~~ Just a tiny skin contact and you run away blushing. Hey, slow down~♪
Eh~? Too revealing? I don't think so. Perhaps dear Conductor looks young but is actually old-fashioned?
My dear Conductor, you're so good-looking. Such a good figure is perfect for cosplay~ Hehe, want to give it a try?
My hair is a 100% real human hair. It's a pain to take care of, oh well, it doesn't matter, as long as I like it ♪
It's a good thing that business is improving, but I don't have time to play cosplay anymore... so annoying~
The lock on my neck? If you open it, there will be a "pleasant surprise." I'm serious. Want to have a look?
If dear Conductor opens the lock on my necklace, you'll see me naked. But how to open it? You'll have to try all sorts of methods ♪
Things that shone when we were kids would never fade from memory. The brightest memory of mine is the little witch in my favorite anime when I was a kid.
I left home because I couldn't stand my parents' strict education. But it was the experience from that period that taught me how to live independently. This is what they call a blessing in disguise.
Hey, hey, my dear Conductor, don't make me take the initiative every time. Why don't you make the first move sometimes?
(sighs) What a hassle...
Aha, bunch of idiots!
Argh... Jeez, I'm drenched in sweat from head to toe... I'd kill for a shower right now...
Try harder!
Lose yourself in the darkness!
Ow, ow, ow! Didn't I say I can't stand pain?!
How annoying...
Meh, that's just child's play. I'll take money if you're offering a special reward.
