"No, I won't spy on people for you!"
In a pivotal moment during the Tech Contest that could have altered Paladi's life, she successfully advanced to the final challenge. However, as the demands of the investors grew more unbearable, the young Paladi found their expectations unacceptable. In her opinion, technology should exist to benefit humanity, to improve lives, and not be exploited solely for commercial gain.
Unable to endure this any longer, Paladi erupted in anger at the investors and abruptly left, thereby forfeiting the opportunity to continue in the competition. Her sudden departure left many of her peers astonished. Later, she learned that one of these peers had secured the investment.
Since her youth, Paladi had been exposed to the ideals of the Source Citadel through a distant relative: the salvation of all humanity. Since then, she had aspired to join the Citadel, facing repeated setbacks and rejections. After unsuccessful attempts to join the Citadel, she turned to seeking investment from Anita... only to face failure once more due to conflicting ideologies.
Unperturbed by the curious stares of bystanders, Paladi made her way back home, tears rolling down her cheeks as she recalled the harsh criticisms from the investors. Although she rejected the commercialization notions presented by the investors, one statement lingered in her mind, "What society truly needs is a newer and better system."
When she reached home, only A-SO, previously dormant, turned its flat head toward her. Paladi, with tears still fresh, broke into a smile and rushed to embrace her barrel-shaped robot.
"Even if no one else understands me, I'll never abandon you... I'll improve you for the better, and I'll upgrade my Aegis System... One day, it will truly protect many, many people!"
As if in response to her vow, the robot's eyes blinked twice and a mail bearing the BCRL logo emerged from the printer.
Even now, Paladi, the head of the Reforming Center, vividly recalls that moment. The current Aegis robots not only ensure the security of the Reforming Center but also excel in various off-duty tasks like printing, baking muffins, singing, and other "small things." Such is the AOS Gen 2 System developed by Paladi. Rooted in these everyday aspects of life, she leads as the chief commandant of the Aegis robots.
